Project Scope
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was founded in 1901 and is a non-regulatory agency under the US Department of Commerce. Its primary role is to develop standards (particularly for security controls) that apply to various industries. NIST is one of the nation’s oldest physical science laboratories. Its mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
The Optimum Group was contracted for this 1960’s government campus including 30 buildings and 2,700 employees to provide an assessment and re-conceptualization of its cafeterias and institutional food operations for the purpose of bringing current, creative design, increased efficiency and improved dining offerings to the campus population.
In addition, Optimum provided a Request for Proposal (RFP) for facilitating and providing an operator selection process for the renovated dining facility and related catering operations within the corporate headquarters building.
